Mesothelioma is a complex and deadly cancer, which is often dealt with by a range of specialists and physicians to ensure that the patient gets the best possible care from highly trained and skilled professionals.
From your first point of contact, which is normally your doctor, you could find yourself being dealt with by one or a number of related medical professionals who all have specialist skills in different areas.
The three types of mesothelioma are: Pleural Mesothelioma; Peritoneal Mesothelioma and Pericardial Mesothelioma. As these three types of the cancer affect different parts of the body – the lungs, the abdomen and the heart – it requires different specialist skills to deal with each type.

Valerie specialises in the treatment of patients with cancer of the lung, oesophagus, mediastinum or chest wall. She has conducted particular research in to lung cancer and mesothelioma, and has been a leader in a variety of clinical trials for mesothelioma.
Mr Sugarbaker specialises in peritoneal mesothelioma, and in treatment he utilises a selection of treatments including surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
Mr Taub has an impressive history in the field of medical and clinical oncology, and has a number of co-director and directorships in a variety of medical institutions.
Mary specialises in the treatment of mesothelioma as well as other related diseases. She is involved in a number of studies on patients with mesothelioma. She is the member of a range of professional bodies, and has an impressive history in medical oncology.
Gregory is responsible for directing the Thoracic Oncology team at the University, but also plays a part in the development of innovative clinical trials for patients that have mesothelioma.
With a strong interest in mesothelioma, Dr Friedberg is involved in surgical and therapeutic clinical trials, many of which have had a marked positive effect on mesothelioma.
This assistant professor has a strong interest in the field of oncology, and is the author of a number of articles and features based upon treatments and trails for pleural mesothelioma.
Dr Robinson is a key member of the Thoracic Team, and is involved in the evaluation and treatment of mesothelioma at all stages, as well as in clinical trials for the treatment of lung cancer and mesothelioma.
