Mesothelioma Miracle Patient Dies -- MesoLink.org -- 07-22-04

A brave Massachusetts woman died earlier this year from mesothelioma – and amazing fourteen years after diagnosis. Margie Levine was diagnosed with malignant pleural mesothelioma when she was 43 years of age, and was told that she had just months to live.

However, Margie went on to live for another fourteen years, and used her time to inspire and support other cancer sufferers. She was treated at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston following her diagnosis.

Margie believed that the treatment provided by her doctor, Dr Sugarbaker, along with her own unconventional methods helped her through this disease, enabling her to enjoy years of extra life. She even went on to write a book ‘Surviving Cancer’ which became one of the top four health books in the country.

Margie’s initial treatment entailed chemotherapy drugs, which were poured in to her chest during surgery, an uncommon procedure at the time. She also developed her own self-help methods, including psychology and attitude as well as diet.

Margie spent her extra years touring the country and learning more about mesothelioma as well as offering her own advice to others.

She was 57 when she died earlier this year, at Brigham & Women’s hospital where she was initially treated fourteen years ago when the diagnosis was first made.

Margie leaves a husband, two sons and two grandchildren.
