In September 2003, Warren Zevon, a rock ‘n’ roll legend who had wowed the music industry for many decades, died from the asbestos related cancer, mesothelioma. The Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) have now announced that Warren’s son, Jordan, is to be spokesman for the organization in a bid to educate the public in the cause and effect of the disease that robbed his legendary father of his life.
"As national spokesperson for ADAO, I am thrilled to support their commitment to asbestos awareness," stated Jordan. "My father died from mesothelioma, a cancer only caused from asbestos, not as so often reported to be from a rock-n-roll lifestyle he abandoned more than a decade prior to his diagnosis. I want to dispel the myths and reveal the truth about the asbestos epidemic. The deadly mineral has a name, asbestos, but it also has a face in the patients, family and friends that it claims as victims."
A tribute album to Jordan’s dad, featuring a range of Warren Zevon songs, has already been released, and features all sorts of artists including Adam Sandler, Billy Bob Thornton, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and Don Henley.
