Residents Forced To Live On Streets -- MesoLink.org -- 08-24-06

It has been revealed that a number of residents that were forced out of their homes because of the discovery of asbestos are now on the streets and are not even able to get their belongings. The asbestos was found back in June at the Highline Terrace Apartment buildings, and although residents were given hotel vouchers these have now run out and they are having to make their own arrangements.

When the residents had to move out of the apartments they were forced to leave all their belongings behind. And because the hotel vouchers have run out, many have found themselves having to rely on friends or family for accommodations and assistance. Others have found themselves with no place to go.

One resident was forced to leave all of his belongings as well as his home office from which he worked. He stated: I have been homeless for three weeks. I've been sleeping in my car, on the streets. I have an apartment full of furniture with an office that I work in. There's no way this should happen to anyone."

The apartment managers are still not releasing any belongings from the buildings, and many of the residents are now demanding that further action be taken.
