An elementary school that was having re-roofing work carried out on it has become the topic of concern after asbestos was found in the area where the work was being carried out.
Henley Elementary School was having roofing repairs due to water damaged ceilings, and the delay caused by the discovery of the asbestos could cause a delay with the start of classes.
The asbestos was found in the building late last week according to officials, and one spokesperson added that the asbestos was present in virtually every part of the ceiling within the school. The school has already been dogged by a variety of other problems including poor air quality causing breathing problems.
Arrangements are now being made for experts to remove the asbestos that is present in the building. Officials state that students will not be permitted to come into the school until all work has been completed and tests have been carried out to confirm safety.
