A judge has sentenced the owner as well as the manager of a renovations/development firm in connection with asbestos violations. The company in question was Parkland Towncenter LLC. Parkland filed to give the required written notice relating to the demolition or renovation of the Northwood Building, which comes under the federal Clean Air Act's National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants.
Parkland clocked up over one hundred and seventy thousand dollars in fines, as well as two years corporate probation. The manager of the company, Neil Kozokoff, was also sentenced for his part in the incident, and pleaded guilty to being an accessory after the fact.
Kozokoff was fined over $25,000, and was also sentenced to eighteen months of federal probation. Terry Dykes, the defendant was charged with two counts of violation of the National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants.
A general contractor for the company also pleaded guilty in a separate case. He was charged with knowingly failing to file the ten day notice in connection with the demolition or renovation of the facility, and he received five years probation.
