A Lynnhurst school has received a visit from the Department of Occupational Safety earlier this week, after it was revealed that one of the teachers at the school had been exposed to asbestos, and this was picked up in testing. The Town Manager confirmed that the department had visited the school and carried out a full inspection, but claimed that nothing was picked up.
Andrew Bisignani, the Town Manager, added: "They did say there were a couple of cracks in the floors that should be sealed and we should wash and wax the floors more often."
Other officials have stated that the representatives from the department simply walked through the school, and that more thorough testing was yet to be carried out with regards to air quality and the possible presence of asbestos in the building.
Officials have also added that although there is no firm evidence that the teacher was exposed to asbestos at the school, there was also no evidence to state otherwise, and so no conclusion could be reached until further testing had been carried out.
