Following a judge’s decision to allow a class action lawsuit against the Environmental Protection Agency in relation to the contamination of the area following the 9/11 attacks, Senator Hillary Clinton has expressed her approval of the action.
The senator stated that it confirms her beliefs that the public was misled about the situation by the Bush Administration. Clinton stated that the EPA had failed in its duty to inform the public about the environmental dangers following the attacks.
Clinton recently attended a news conference with a number of activists and Rep. Jerrald Nadler. She stated: "Trying to persuade this White House and this administration to act in the best interest of Americans is a lonely, almost impossible task."
The EPA administrator has stated that everything possible was done to ensure public safety following the event. He said: "Every action taken by the EPA during the response to this horrific event was designed to provide the most comprehensive protection and the most accurate information to the residents of Manhattan. I firmly believe that the agency's findings that the air quality was safe were correct."
